Nuclear Restoration Services

Communications & Brand

Digital Communications Specialist | May 2022 – March 2026

NRS is a UK government-owned organisation responsible for the decommissioning of 12 former nuclear sites across England, Wales and Scotland, employing over 2,000 people.

1. NRS Roadshow

Mobile Exhibition Design

  • NRS needed to engage local communities around its nuclear sites - presenting the organisation's mission in an accessible, human way and opening a dialogue about the future of former nuclear sites.

  • Full concept development and design of all visual and communication materials for a mobile exhibition space delivered across 6 nuclear facility sites.

    • Vehicle wrap design — large format graphic design aligned with NRS brand identity, designed for readability in public spaces

    • Information panels — a set of graphic display boards presenting key information about the organisation's activities and mission

    • Interactive touchscreen interface — designed for interactive content browsing and presentation

    • Educational game element — an interactive activity where visitors could place stickers representing potential future uses of former nuclear sites, encouraging community reflection

  • The roadshow was delivered across 6 nuclear facility sites. Each location required a separate set of communication materials tailored to the specific site and its local community, with visual content and messaging adapted to each local context across England, Wales and Scotland.

2. Organisational Rebrand

Magnox to NRS

  • A major UK nuclear organisation was transitioning its entire brand identity — from the long-established Magnox name to a newly created Nuclear Restoration Services brand. Everything needed to change, consistently, across 12 sites and all communications channels.

  • I was part of the internal communications team leading the rollout. I participated in stakeholder workshops and focus groups analysing brand perception and shaping the direction of the new communication strategy. I worked closely with the external creative agency responsible for the new visual identity, consulting on visual and communication solutions. Once the new brand was established, I supported the full rollout across all digital and print channels.

    • Stakeholder workshop participation and brand perception analysis

    • Collaboration with external creative agency on visual and communication direction

    • Full rollout of new visual identity across digital channels, social media, print materials and signage

    • Creation of all ongoing communications materials aligned to the new NRS brand guidelines

  • The new NRS brand was successfully launched and implemented across all 12 sites and every communications channel — digital, print and physical — creating a consistent and professional identity for the organisation's next chapter.

3. Careers

Employer Branding & Recruitment Marketing

  • NRS needed to attract graduates and apprentices to fill around 50 roles annually — competing with larger, better-known employers for early career talent.

  • I worked closely with the HR and Young Careers team to create all marketing and employer branding assets supporting the annual graduate and apprenticeship recruitment campaign.

    • Social media graphics and campaign assets for LinkedIn and other channels

    • Printed banners and promotional materials for university careers events

    • Filmed and edited employee testimonial videos — featuring current graduates talking about their roles and experience at NRS

    • Published and managed content across social media channels throughout the recruitment cycle

  • The graduates and apprenticeships campaign ran successfully across multiple recruitment cycles, supporting the annual intake of graduates and apprentices into the organisation. The employee testimonial video series provided authentic employer branding content that brought the NRS workplace to life for prospective candidates.

4. Infographics & Print Materials

🔴 Note: During my time at NRS I also worked on a range of additional print materials including the company Code of Conduct and multiple internal brochures. Due to confidentiality requirements, these cannot be shared publicly. The infographics displayed here represent a selection of materials that were published externally.

  • A large, technically complex organisation needs to communicate data, processes and information clearly — to internal teams, stakeholders and the public. Not everyone speaks the language of nuclear decommissioning.

  • Design and production of a wide range of infographics and print materials for both internal and external communications throughout my time at NRS.

    • Infographics translating complex data, processes and statistics into clear, visually engaging formats

    • Print materials including leaflets, flyers and promotional collateral for events and public communications

    • Visual assets aligned to NRS brand guidelines across all formats

  • A consistent library of visual communication materials used across the organisation — making complex information accessible to a wide range of audiences, from internal teams to local communities.
