Digital Marketing & Communications Specialist | January 2020 – May 2022

Green Fuels is a Berkeley-based UK company specialising in sustainable biofuel production and technology. I joined as the sole marketing professional, with full ownership of strategy, content, design and web presence, reporting directly to the CEO and CFO. The company's research arm later spun out as Firefly Green Fuels — a startup I helped brand from scratch, which has since secured a near $1 billion partnership with Wizz Air.

  • A growing clean energy company needed a complete marketing function built from the ground up — with no existing marketing team, no consistent brand presence, and an ambitious vision that needed to be communicated clearly to both B2B and investment audiences.

  • I joined as the sole marketing professional, reporting directly to the CEO and CFO. I had full ownership of marketing strategy, content, design, web presence and paid campaigns across both Green Fuels Ltd and Green Fuels Research.

    • Website rebrand - Redesigned and developed the company website in WordPress — full concept, structure, content and graphic design — creating a modern, credible online presence aligned with the company's positioning in the clean energy sector.

    • Social media video series Created a series of informational videos for social media — scripted, produced and edited to communicate complex scientific and commercial topics in an accessible, engaging format for business and investor audiences.

    • Brand identity & print materials Developed and maintained brand identity and visual consistency across all communications — including sales materials, brochures, infographics and presentations for the leadership and sales teams. Designed promotional materials for industry trade shows and events.

    • Paid campaigns Ran paid social and digital campaigns to support lead generation and brand awareness.

  • Built a complete marketing function from nothing — giving a fast-growing clean energy company a professional, consistent presence across digital and print channels. Results: ~65% organic website traffic growth through improved design and content strategy, 100+ marketing and sales materials created for print and digital, and the company represented at 20+ industry trade shows with materials I designed.

Firefly Green Fuels

Firefly Green Fuels is a Bristol-based startup pioneering sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) produced from sewage sludge — using a process called hydrothermal liquefaction. The company has since secured a near $1 billion partnership with Wizz Air and attracted global investment.

  • A newly spun-out startup needed a brand identity that communicated innovation, credibility and purpose — from day one.

  • The Firefly brand I created launched a company that has since become one of the UK's most talked-about sustainable aviation startups — partnering with Wizz Air, attracting international investors and building a first-of-a-kind SAF production facility in Harwich, England. The brand identity I created in 2020 is still in use today — across Firefly's website, investor materials and media coverage worldwide.
